This unit is designed to provide the skills and knowledge required of new operators within the rural irrigation areas to install meters, regulators within a channel system. The unit can also be used for rural operators who are working within pressurised horticulturals systems where there is a need to install, meters, valves and pressure control devices.

NWPIRR002  Operate basic flow control and regulating devices in irrigation systems

This unit is designed to provide the skills and knowledge required to operate basic flow control and regulating devices in irrigation channel systems.

NWPNET002  Prepare and restore work site

This unit is designed to provide the skills and knowledge operators within the water industry require when preparing and restoring a worksite for repairs, maintenance or construction of new assets. The unit focuses on access, underground services, site protection, storing of equipment and materials, restoring the site to meet organisation and customer needs.

NWPNET011  Locate, identify and protect utility 

This unit is designed to provide the skills and knowledge required for workers involved in the construction, repair, or installation of underground utility infrastructure. Typically workers are involved in locating, identifying and protecting existing utilities infrastructure to prevent damage, injury, death and/or loss of service. Work activities may involve trench excavation or the application of trenchless technologies for installation or repair.

NWPIRR041  Identify and apply water entitlements and delivery processes

This unit is designed to provide the skills and knowledge required to apply irrigation and/or domestic and stock supply systems, the measurement of water and the reporting of customer water usage.

NWPIRR014  Install Meters for Rural Water Supplies

This unit is designed to provide the skills and knowledge required people responsible for the installation of meters within a rural environment where the meter installation is required to meet Australian Technical Standard ATS 4747

NWPIRR022 Maintain Meters for Rural Water Supplies

This unit is designed to provide the skills and knowledge required to maintain water meters in open and closed conduit for non-potable water allocation in non-urban water systems. The unit supports people with the responsibillity to ensure the maintenance of the integrity of already istalled meters, metering systems and their components.

NWPIRR042  Monitor and schedule water deliveries

This unit is designed to provide the skills and knowledge required to schedule water deliveries for irrigation and/or domestic and stock supply systems, including monitoring flows, analysing data, coordinating hydraulic processes and compiling operational reports. This unit supports staff and operators with a specific responsibility for ensuring that water deliveries meet varying customer requirements.

NWPIRR032 Monitor and control rural water distribution operations

This unit is designed to provide the skills and knowledge required to monitor, control and coordinate rural water flow, scheduling and delivery; and to report on rural water distribution, including irrigation, domestic and stock supply systems. The ability to identify faults, gather data, interpret technical information and operate technical equipment are essential to performance. This unit supports field staff with a responsibility for monitoring and operating rural water distribution systems.

NWP365A Identify and confirm blue green algae outbreaks.

This unit is designed to provide the skills and knowledge required to identify and confirm outbreaks of blue green algae blooms. This unit supports operational staff with a specific responsibility for ensuring that water and/or wastewater quality conforms to organisational standards and complies with statutory requirements.

NWP415B Coordinate and monitor surface water systems

This unit is designed to provide the skills and knowledge required to coordinate and monitor the operation of surface water systems, ensuring that Surface Water Management Plan (SWMP) performance measures are met, environmental issues are addressed and a source of supply is maintained. This unit supports staff with a specific responsibility for ensuring that the operation of surface water systems complies with the requirements of the organisation’s Surface Water Management Plan and with relevant organisational and statutory requirements. The level of responsibility may vary according to the size, scope and complexity of the surface water system.

NWP425B Coordinate and monitor the operation of irrigation delivery systems

This unit is designed to provide the skills and knowledge required to coordinate and monitor irrigation delivery systems to ensure system maintenance and performance standards and customer liaison. This unit supports staff with a specific responsibility for ensuring that the operation of irrigation systems complies with organisational and statutory requirements. The level of responsibility will vary according to the size and complexity of the irrigation system.

NWP427B Coordinate and monitor the operation of drainage systems

This unit is designed to provide the skills and knowledge required to coordinate and monitor drainage systems to ensure compliance with the drainage systems management plan, including system performance, maintenance planning and customer liaison. This unit supports staff with a specific responsibility for ensuring that the operation of drainage systems complies with organisational and statutory requirements.
